KHH Free Epilepsy Support Resources
At Kayven’s Helping Hands, we want families navigating epilepsy to know they are not alone. In honor of Kayven, we provide several support items to children and families at no cost thanks to the generosity of our community. If your child is living with epilepsy or going through EEG testing, hospital visit or surgery associated with Epilepsy, you may request one of the following resources by completing the form below. Please submit 1 form for each child. Due to limited quantities, we can only provide 1 of each item per child with an Epilepsy diagnosis. *** Due to limited resources & funding, we can only provide Kayven's Care Kits, Purple Belt Club and EEG Hats to kids 18 and younger. However, we can make special exceptions so please email us at CelebrateKayven@gmail.com with your request.*** We are happy to provide Epilepsy Education and Resource Folders to everyone. Kayven’s Care Kit: A comfort and resource package designed for children with epilepsy. Kits include educational materials, activities, and comfort items to help keep kids busy during long EEG testing, hospital visits, or medical appointments. *Please note, these kits are intended for ages 18 and under. This kit also includes the Purple Belt Club Kit. Please indicate below what book you would like included. Please note, we can only provide one book per kit.
The Great Katie Kate Explains Epilepsy by Dr. M. Maitland DeLand, M.D. Recommended for ages 4-8 but older kids can benefit as well. Explains epilepsy in simple language kids understand.
Stargazing by Jen Wang: Graphic novel about friendship & belonging. Recommended for middle graders/ages 8-12.
The Thing With Feathers by McCall Hoyle: Recommended for middle to high school readers. Themes of epilepsy, friendship, grief, and confidence.
Kayven’s Purple Belt Club Kit-this kit includes an Epilepsy Warrior headband, a Purple Belt Club certificate, Ninja minibook, KHH Bookmark, KHH Duck and sticker encourage confidence and resilience. EEG Hat: Our soft cotton EEG hats help hold EEG leads in place during testing and are animal themed to bring imagination to medical testing. These are handmade from KHH volunteers from upcycled t-shirts. Please indicate size and animal theme below. Please measure your child's head circumference for accurate fit. *Please note these are intended for ages 18 & under. These are hand-made with donated materials therefore we cannot guarantee colors or theme.
Small/toddler/young child: Head circumference: 18.5 to 19.5 inches

Epilepsy Education and Resource Folder: Full of information from the Epilepsy Foundation and other trusted groups to help you care for and understand epilepsy. Includes information on SUDEP, Self-Management, First Aid, Seizure Action Plans, Safety, seizure devices, healthcare provider resources and other helpful information. This is included in the full Care Kits. Please indicate age of recipient.
