    As a Summer Activity Leader, you will be a familiar, supportive presence for our international students, leading activities and excursions, sharing everyday moments and helping create a safe, inclusive and fun environment. This is a hands-on, people-focused role that blends excitement with responsibility, and teamwork with genuine pastoral care, within a fully immersive 24/7 residential environment.

    Role Snapshot

    Salary: £672.50 per week
    Contract: Fixed-term (4-5 weeks)
    Dates: 4 July - 10 August 2026
    Hours: 50 hours per week (1.5 days off per week)
    Location: Monmouth, Wales or Mayfield, East Sussex
    Residential: Full-board accommodation provided throughout the contract

    Who Are We

    Celtic English Academy is the largest English language centre in Wales, with over 20 years’ experience delivering high-quality English language education to international students.

    Our Junior Summer Programme runs in beautiful boarding school settings and welcomes young people aged 11–17 from around the world for immersive language learning, cultural experiences, activities, and excursions across the UK.

    In 2026, we are proud to be operating across two centres: Monmouth and Mayfield, creating vibrant, international communities where students live, learn and socialise together.

    As an Activity Leader, you are at the heart of the student experience.

    You will help create a summer that students remember for years, one filled with connection, confidence, laughter, and discovery. From leading activities and excursions to supporting students’ wellbeing, you will play a vital role in ensuring every young person feels safe, included, and supported while away from home.

    This is a fun and energetic role, but also one with real responsibility. You will be working within a 24/7 residential environment, where students may require support at any time.

    What You Will Be Doing

    • Leading and delivering afternoon and evening activity programmes
    • Running on-site sessions such as multi-sports, arts, and creative activities
    • Supervising students during non-class hours, meals, and free time
    • Supporting and leading full-day and half-day excursions
    • Providing pastoral care and responding to student welfare needs
    • Supporting accommodation routines within the boarding house
    • Assisting with student arrivals, departures, and airport transfers
    • Working closely with the wider team to ensure a safe, positive environment

    This is a residential role, and you will live on-site for the duration of your contract.

    Essential Experience, Skills, Education, Training & Qualifications

    • Experience working with young people
    • Excellent communication and organisational skills
    • Strong attention to detail
    • GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or equivalent)
    • English proficiency at C2 level

    Nice to Have

    • Experience in summer schools, camps, or residential settings
    • First Aid or Mental Health First Aid certification

    • Event management or workshop facilitation experience
    • Additional language skills (e.g. Arabic, Italian, Spanish) 

    Safeguarding & Legal Requirements

    • Right to work in the UK
    • Aged 18+ at the time of employment
    • Two references
    • Enhanced DBS check
    • Overseas police check (if applicable) 

    Placements will be allocated to maintain a balanced student and staff mix across centres.
