• Elder Elections

  • Grace is in exciting season with a new strategic plan and ample resources to strengthen congregational bonds and expand our mission in the neighbourhood. New leaders and fresh perspectives are needed to shape our future. Every two years, the congregation has the opportunity to elect new members to the office of Elder. This year, elections will happen at the end of May. Elders are responsible for the spiritual leadership of the congregation, and the stewardship of church assets. They provide pastoral care for a specific district of congregational members and adherents. When they are elected, they will serve a six-year term on Session. Elders are ordained for life.
  • How do I participate in electing new Elders?

    • Pray for members of the congregation to hear God's call to take this step of discipleship.
    • Exercise discernment about nominating a member of Grace to this office.
    • Along with another member submit a nomination of a potential new Elder. New Elders must be nominated by two members of the congregation.
    • Complete the nomination form using the website link below or fill out the nomination form insert in the bulletin or available at the sanctuary entrances.
    • Nominations will be accepted Sunday, March 15 - Sunday, April 5.
  • What happens after I submit a nomination?

  • The list of nominees will be reviewed by Session and then nominees will be invited into a period of discernment for their sense of call. The nominees will be voted on by members at the annual congregational meeting at the end of May. In June, there will be a service of ordination for the new Elders and an orientation to the role.
