JOB SUMMARY:
The Vice President, Athlete Name, Image & Likeness is responsible for developing and executing the Clemson Athletic Ventures NIL strategy, establishing governance frameworks, and driving NIL growth through integrated partnerships. This leader serves as the primary liaison to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment across athletics, compliance, legal, sponsorship, licensing, and external partners. The role oversees athlete recruitment support for key sports and manages relationships with agents and professional service providers. In addition, this position provides managerial oversight of NIL staff and operational workflows.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set the department’s NIL strategy, annual priorities, and revenue targets, ensuring alignment with institutional and athletic department goals.
- Lead revenue-driven outreach by identifying, pitching, and securing NIL partnership opportunities with brands, agencies, and regional businesses.
- Leverage existing vendor and partnership relationships to identify NIL opportunities and integrate NIL deliverables seamlessly across agreements.
- Establish, implement, and maintain NIL governance structures, policies, and compliance frameworks that align with NCAA, state, and institutional regulations.
- Serve as the senior NIL liaison to athletics leadership, compliance, legal counsel, and external stakeholders.
- Oversee NIL staff, establishing clear priorities, accountability standards, and operational systems for the department.
- Oversee cross‑functional coordination with sponsorship, licensing, social media, communications, and operations teams to ensure unified execution of NIL initiatives.
- Lead relationship management with athlete agents, marketing representatives, and professional service providers.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and contracting authority for all NIL Agreements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Act as the primary NIL recruiter for Football, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Baseball, Softball, and Gymnastics, supporting coaches and athletes with NIL education and opportunity development.
- Lead creative brand marketing brainstorms to develop innovative NIL activations.
- Serve as a key strategic leader within Clemson Athletic Ventures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, sports management, marketing, communications, law, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in brand marketing, sponsorship, or athlete representation.
- Deep understanding of brand marketing, the NIL landscape, including NCAA guidelines, state laws, and industry best practices.
- Demonstrated experience developing strategy, managing complex partnerships, or overseeing revenue‑generating programs.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
- Proven ability to manage contracts, negotiate agreements, and ensure compliance.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities and high‑visibility responsibilities.
- Preferred experience in Power Four or high‑profile athletic department environments.
- Familiarity with social media strategy, athlete branding, and digital content ecosystems.
