MAVWA 2027 Workshop Proposal Form

We are looking for experienced teachers to run Workshops at the 44th annual Festival, and would love to hear from you with ideas.

Here is some information to help you decide what form your proposed workshop would take:

Duration can vary from half a day (3 hours) to 2 full days (12 hours).
Morning hours are generally 9am through noon, and 1pm through 4pm, although that is flexible depending on your and your students' needs.
1- and 2-day workshops are scheduled for the two days prior to the Festival: Thursday, Sept. 30th, and Friday, October 1st and through Saturday.
Half-day workshops can be scheduled for the Thursday, Friday, Saturday October 2nd, and/or Sunday morning, October 3rd.
You may also submit variations on a workshop duration. E.g. a proposal for a 1-day, and a proposal for a 3-hour version.
If you plan to submit ideas for an introductory class and a further techniques class, consider whether you can structure it so that the Intro can run at the beginning of the further techniques class.
Materials fees will be paid directly to the instructor by the students.
Consider what is the minimum number of students you need to make your workshop financially worthwhile.
MAVWA pays part of your travel expenses. Currently: up to $300 travel, up to $500 lodging, $30 per diem. This may be revised for 2027, but these expenses, plus your teaching fee, compared with enrollments, will determine the financial viability of your class.
We hope workshops will encourage students to visit the Festival vendors afterwards, and ideally purchase supplies from them as well.

If we accept your proposal(s), we'll get back to you for some further information (like a brief bio, photos) and we'll write up the workshop details in a contract for you.
