IMT Alumni Contest (5/23-24/26)
  • International Mock Trial Alumni Contest (Competitors)

International Mock Trial is hosting online mock trial competitions. These competitions are not-for-profit. The students are not paying an entry fee to attend. Judges will not be compensated. The trials will be held over Zoom. All judges must have mock trial competitive experience. They may be current high schoolers, unlike our regular-season contest. The tournament will take place on 5/23 and 5/24/26. There will not be physical awards provided to any team, though placements and individual honors will be announced and published. The trials will be held over Zoom. The cases will be released at 7:30 AM and 10 AM Pacific on 5/23 and 5/24; the rounds will start one hour after.

    4) The team is committing to having an eligible judge available for every single round of the competition. If your judge does not show for one round, you will lose 10 points on both ballots. If your judge does not show for a second round, you will be removed from the competition before the second round starts.

    5) The team has reviewed publicly available resources so they know the style of the competition they are entering.

    6) This is open to either TWO HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES/ALUMNI or ONE HIGH SCHOOLER + ONE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE. There should be TWO competitors on every team--one person will be an attorney, and the other will be a witness. They may switch roles depending on their side. EVERY ROUND, they will receive a brand new case. They will have one hour to prepare that case before performing in an abridged format with an opening, one DX, one CX, and a closing. All these things together may NOT exceed 30 minutes.

    7) Each pair is permitted a third member, who will not participate/be scored. That third member may serve as a 'second chair' to help with timing and technology and prep.
