  • Auditions will consist of an individual vocal audition and prepared readings/cold reads from the script.

    Vocal Audition Requirements: Sing your best 16-32 bars (or approximately 1 min) of a published Musical Theatre song. Accompanist provided. Please bring sheet music and have your start and stop indicated on your music. No soundtracks. A capella not preferred. Please do not sing from the show.

    Children must be prepare a provided excerpt for their vocal audition. This can be found on www.familymusictheatre.com/auditions.

    MUSIC

    ACTING: As this show has almost no spoken dialog, you will not be required to do any reading at the audition, however you should use your performance of your song to also demonstrate your acting. During the audition you may be given some additional direction so that we can see your acting abilities. We are looking for character choices, ability to convey emotion and tell a story while singing, as well as your ability to take direction. 

    CALLBACKS: Those required for callbacks will be notified following the final date of auditions via email. Callbacks will include a dance call and additional vocal auditions. Not all roles will require a callback. Callback material will be posted by April 1st.

    VIDEO SUBMISSIONS: If you are unable to attend the in-person auditions, you may submit a video audition with the subject line “FMT JOSEPH-; FULL NAME” to stagemanager@gifca.org by Thursday, June 9th at 5pm! In order to be seen, the video file MUST be a YouTube or Google Drive link (make sure it is not set to private). Every submission will be seen.

    ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT DATES: 

    • First Cast Meeting: May 1, 2026

    • Sequence Week: June 1-5, 2026
    • Tech Week: June 8-11, 2026
    • Performances: June 12-27, 2026
    • Set Strike: June 28, 2026
    • Cast Party: July 11, 2026

    First Cast Meeting: May 1st at 7:00pm

    First Rehearsal: May 4th at 7:00pm

    • Rehearsal will be May 4th - June 11th and generally run Monday-Friday from 6-10pm (most nights start at 7pm) and some Saturday mornings, depending on the cast's availability and if scenes/choreography need additional time.
    • A definitive rehearsal calendar, determined from the availability of those cast, will be shared at the first cast meeting. Every attempt is made to set a rehearsal calendar that is personnel-efficient prior to June 1st (Sequence Week) requiring attendance only when you are active onstage. Rehearsal times and required attendance dates will vary by character and ensemble group. Please be sure to list ALL conflicts on your audition form, including days we do not specify we have rehearsals. Any conflicts must be specified on audition sign-up form.
    • Set, props, & costume workdays will be on Saturdays.

    Starting June - REQUIRED ATTENDANCE FOR ALL. No individual conflicts will be accepted. Cast MUST be available for all final rehearsals and performances:

    • Sequence Week: June 1st - 5th
    • Tech Week: June 8th - 11th
    • 9 Performances: June 12th - 13th, 19th - 20th, 26th - 27th
    • MANDATORY SET STRIKE Sunday, June 28th

     

    ALL DATES MUST BE CLEAR OF CONFLICTS FOR SEQUENCE WEEK, TECH WEEK, ALL PERFORMANCES, AND SET STRIKE.

    Understanding that our first Cast Meeting is Friday, May 1, 2026 and our first Rehearsal is Monday, May 4, 2026, please indicate below any and all schedule conflicts for the period of May 1 - May 30.

    Please include any work and/or school schedule conflicts that occur on weeknights and/or weekends. We create our rehearsal calendar based on the conflicts noted below, so we need to know when you are available and not available. CONFLICTS NOT ON THE AUDITION FORM WILL NOT BE ACCOMMODATED.

    Let it be known that any outside performance experiences coinciding with our production schedule are STRONGLY DISCOURAGED and could jeopardize your role in this production. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary that you clearly indicate any conflicts here and now so that the directors may be able to duly consider whether these may be accommodated.
