  • STUDENT POSTER CONTEST

    Show your creativity and help our community celebrate 250 years of the United States of America! 

    Presented by the City of Farmington Hills in collaboration with Farmington Public Schools

     

    In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the City of Farmington Hills and Farmington Public Schools invite all students in grades K–12 to take part in a special America 250 Poster Contest!

    Inspired by the theme “We Are America,” students are encouraged to explore ideas such as community, freedom, diversity, history, hopes for the future as they create artwork expressing what America means to them.

    The winning poster(s) will be reviewed by City officials, including members of the City's Cultural Arts Division. The selected winner(s) will be professionally re-printed at The Hawk Makerspace using the large-format printer and displayed in several locations, including:

    · The Hawk

    · Farmington Hills City Hall

    · The City’s America 250 Celebration at Founders Sports Park on June 25, 2026

    · The winning design may also be featured on promotional materials for the event.

     

    SUBMISSION DEADLINE - APRIL 26, 2026

     

    ARTIST INFO | CONTEST REQUIREMENTS:

    • This contest is open to Farmington Public Schools students in Kindergarten through 12th grade.

    • Artwork must be original and created by the submitting student.

    • AI-generated artwork is not permitted.

    • Designs may be created using a variety of media, including but not limited to markers, paint, pencil, collage, or digital design programs (such as Illustrator or Photoshop).

    • Artwork may be no smaller than 8.5" x 11" and no larger than standard poster board size.

    • One submission per student is allowed.

    • For judging purposes, photograph or scan your poster and upload the image with your application.

    • Uploaded files must be 2 MB or less.

    • Mail-in or in-person submissions will not be accepted.

    • The winning design will be professionally photographed for reproduction, so please retain your original artwork for printing and promotional use.

    • By submitting artwork, the artist and their parent/guardian grant permission for the design to be reproduced for promotional materials related to the celebration.

    • Designs must be submitted no later than 11:59 PM on April 26, 2026.

    • Creativity and originality
    • Interpretation of the theme “We Are America”
    • Overall design, visual impact, and clarity of message

  • IMAGE UPLOAD GUIDELINES

    Images must be 2 MB or less and saved as JPEG, GIF, PNG, or PDF.

    Submit a clear, high-quality photo or scan of your artwork, as image quality will affect how judges view your design. If using a phone, make sure the poster is well lit, in focus, and free of shadows or glare.

    Keep your original artwork. The winning design will be professionally photographed and reproduced at poster size in the Hawk Makerspace.
