  • We are looking for instructors who are qualified at level two or above.

    Our instructors play a central role in shaping the experience our guests have on the mountain. We’re always looking for people who take pride in their work and are committed to delivering a consistently high standard of instruction, and approach each day with focus, energy, professionalism, and attention to detail.

    We offer lessons to guests of all ages and abilities levels. All of our guests are international travellers to Japan, and we offer snowsports lessons in English, so there's no need to worry about speaking Japanese!

    Furano offers a unique working environment within the heart of Hokkaido’s renowned powder belt - combining exceptional snow conditions with an authentic and relaxed Japanese atmosphere.   • As part of this application, we'll ask for details of your seasonal work history, Japanese work eligibility, contact details for your references, and we’ll ask you to upload copies of the following:

    • Your resume or CV showing your employment history and experience.
    • A cover letter or personal statement telling us about yourself, your instructing background, and what interests you about FISS.
    • Proof of your ski and/or snowboard certifications.

  • Role: Ski / Snowboard Instructor
    Location: Furano, Hokkaido, Japan
    Season: Winter (December – March, subject to variation)

    At FISS, instructors are responsible for delivering safe, engaging, and technically accurate lessons to an international clientele across a wide range of ages and ability levels. Lessons may be private or group-based and require a high level of adaptability, communication, and situational awareness.

    • Deliver lessons that are structured, personalised, and aligned with each guest’s goals.
    • Present yourself with professionalism, reliability, and consistency in all guest interactions.

    • Create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
    • Work well within the team and contribute to a professional, respectful culture

    We’re looking for instructors who take pride in their work and enjoy delivering high quality guest experiences. You should be confident in your technical understanding, communicate clearly, and be able to adapt to different guests, conditions, and situations on the mountain.

    A professional, reliable approach is important, along with the ability to stay composed and deliver a consistent experience throughout the season. We also value instructors who contribute positively to the team environment both on and off the snow.

    Core Responsibilities:

    • Teach skiing or snowboarding to guests of all ages and ability levels.
    • Manage lesson safety and progression through informed decision making.
    • Communicate with guests to identify their goals, and provide clear and constructive feedback to help guests improve.
    • Represent FISS with professionalism both on and off the mountain.
    • Support day-to-day operations of the ski school, including non-instructing duties as required.

  • Important Note:

    You must hold a minimum Level Two qualification in your primary discipline.

  • Important Note:

    Please be aware that in the 2026-27 season we will require part time instructors to work, or be available to work, a minimum of 100 hours over the season.

    If this minimum isn’t met, we may need to recover a portion of visa and lift pass costs from you.

    Part time instructors have a lower priority for assigned lessons than full time instructors. We will count hours that you are rostered and available to work towards the minimum, regardless of if a lesson is assigned or not.
