  • W. Harry Springer Scholarship

    Named in honor of longtime Board of Directors volunteer W. Harry Springer, this award recognizes students who exemplify leadership, academic excellence, and a dedication to volunteerism and civic engagement. Frick Financial Federal Credit Union proudly awards up to three scholarships annually, recognizing education as a vital foundation for developing tomorrow’s leaders. Through these scholarships, we bring our philosophy of “People Helping People” to life by investing in the future of our members and community. Award amounts are $2,500 for first place, $1,500 for second place, and $1,000 for third place.
  • Requirements:

    • Applicant must be a member of Frick Financial Federal Credit Union for at least six (6) months prior to application and be a member in good standing.
    • An applicant must be a high school senior, recent graduate, or its equivalent. The scholarship is for undergraduate study at an accredited college, university, or trade school. 
    • Applicant must submit a written high school and/or college transcript. The transcript must be certified by the school.
    • A scholarship awarded will be deposited into the winner's share account. Verification of recipient's acceptance by the school may be requested by the credit union.
    • A member may submit an application each year that he/she meets the eligibility requirement.
    • Previous scholarship winners may submit an application each year he/she meets eligibility requirements. 
    • The top three applicants are awarded scholarships of $2,500, $1,500, and $1,000, respectively. The recipient may be required to repay the credit union if studies are not completed for the school year in which the scholarship was awarded.
    • Applications must be fully completed and submitted by May 31, 2026. All entries become property of Frick Financial Federal Credit Union. Applicant must adhere to and abide by the terms of the application. 
    • Only complete application packages will be considered by the selection committee. Incomplete applications will not be returned to the applicant. 
  • Selection:

    • The recipients will be determined by a panel of selected educators based on the following criteria: Academic achievement (GPA and scholastic honors and prizes), extracurricular activities, work experience, and written essay. The essay will be judged on content and clarity. All decisions are final.
    • Frick Financial Federal Credit Union reserves the right to amend or delete criteria, including, but not limited to, the right to reject applications submitted, extend application period, and the right to terminate the program as it sees fit on an annual basis.

    Note: Financial needs of the applicant and the income of the applicant's family are not factors considered in the applicant evaluation.

  • Applicants are required to submit an original essay in response to the following prompt: “Describe a personal experience that shaped your understanding of money and how it influences your decisions today.” Essays must be typed, double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman font, and be one page in length.

    Disclaimer: All submitted essays will be reviewed for the use of artificial intelligence. The use of AI in the writing process will be taken into consideration when selecting scholarship recipients.
