We are pleased to invite you to the 2026 Asia-Pacific Technical Workshop on BBNJ Implementation and Cooperation, to be held in Seoul from 28 to 29 May 2026.

Hosted by the National Marine Biodiversity Institute of Korea (MABIK), this workshop seeks to share research activities and implementation efforts related to the BBNJ agenda with experts and institutions across the Asia-Pacific region.

 

■ Target Participants
Participation is open to scientists, researchers, and experts from the Asia-Pacific region (including government agencies, research institutes, and universities) who are actively engaged in work related to the BBNJ Agreement. Please note that confirmed participants will be contacted individually following a review of applications received by Friday, 24 April 2026 (KST).

 

■ Support for Selected Participants
The following costs will be covered for selected participants:

• Airfare: Round-trip economy-class airfare
• Accommodation: 3 nights at the President Hotel (Venue Hotel), from 27 to 30 May 2026
• Meals:
  - 28 May: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
  - 29 May: Breakfast and Lunch
  - 30 May: Breakfast

*Note: Travel Insurance, and any other costs not explicitly stated above are the responsibility of the individual. Participants are also responsible for their own transportation from the airport to the venue. A detailed Information Note regarding the venue and logistics will be provided at a later date.

• Selected participants may be contacted separately and invited to provide additional information or materials and to participate in discussions related to their country’s or institution’s research, activities, or initiatives related to BBNJ, which may be used as reference materials for the workshop discussions.

∙ Purpose of the Collection and Use of Personal Information
Personal information is used for the purpose of organizing and conducting the 2026 Asia-Pacific Technical Workshop on BBNJ Implementation and Cooperation.

The personal information of participants will be stored for six months from the date of consent. Once the intended purpose has been achieved, all information will be destroyed without delay.
