Scheduling
Camp Gan Israel aims to introduce the children to the widest possible array of activities and educational programs providing a meaningful learning experience. The daily schedule includes a mix of sports, arts n’ crafts, baking, swimming, educational programs and Judaic instruction.
Swimming and Sports
During swimming, there will be staff in and out of the pool and lifeguards on hand at all times. Within the first days of camp, each child will be tested for their level of swimming ability. Please send swim shoes with your child. Children will have sport sessions with trained instructors. They will be participating in Soccer, Kickball, Dodge ball, Street Hockey and other sports. Campers should wear sneakers during sport practice to avoid foot injuries.
The 9 Days
There will be no recreational swim during the 9 Days, July 15 - July 22. There will be water sports, activities and the children will be going to sprinkler parks to enjoy the wading pools and the water activities they have to offer. If your child has any issues regarding swimming, please let the Director and the staff for his/her group know.
Appropriate Footwear
We strongly suggest our campers wear appropriate footwear for sports and other activities. While Crocs and flip flops are great as swim shoes, they are unsafe during sport activities.
Arrival and Dismissal
Morning drop off begins at 8:45am. Children that are brought before this time need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian until 8:45am. This allows for the staff to prepare for the day and receive the children at the appropriate time with a smile on their face.
Please be considerate of the staff and come on time for pickup at 3:15pm
(Mon—Thurs) and 2:15pm (Friday).
Carpool
Please wait in your car for the staff to come to your car to retrieve your child.
If there is a change in who will be picking up your child(ren), please send an email to the camp office at cgiod@lotpnj.org by 11:00am, so we can ensure the safety of your child(ren).
Busing
We will be offering transportation in NY and NJ.
A minimum registration of (8) campers per route is required in order to run busing.
Communication
So that we may better be able to communicate with you, the parents, and share your child’s summer experience at Gan Israel, we are asking for your cell phone number. We are planning to send WhatsApp updates throughout the summer. We will include pictures and short video clips of your children involved in various fun and exciting camp activities as well as notices and reminders. We ask that you please include your cell phone number in the registration form, so that we may add you to the Camp WhatsApp list.
Food Policy
Camp Gan Israel follow a strict “NO NUT” policy. That means that there are no products served in the building, including hot lunch, that use nut products.
There are several children in the camp, spanning through each group, that are severely allergic to nuts. We ask that you do NOT send your child to camp with any food that contains nuts (including peanut butter or peanuts, for example: Bamba or Health Bars) or traces of nuts.
The Camp supports a “no sharing” policy when it comes to food. Please explain to your child that while it’s a Mitzvah to share, we cannot share food at Camp. It can be a hazard to some children.
Lunch
There will be a hot lunch option this summer. Please CLICK HERE for more information and to sign up. Lunch sign up is due by Monday, June 8.
Please note that any lunch sign ups during camp must be submitted with payment at least one week prior (WEDNESDAY BY 9:00 PM) to the week you are requesting.
Please send in a non-perishable lunch daily if you are not signing up for our hot lunch program.
Water will be provided and drinking will be encouraged. Please send additional drinks especially on hot days.
Tip Suggestion
We will be making suggestions as to how to thank the staff for the love and devotion they have shown your child. The camp’s suggestions and a list of your child’s teachers and counselors with job titles will be provided upon request.
