    All those accepted to present at the annual conference must complete this participation agreement by May 20, 2026. Please review your personal information, session assignment(s), and terms of participation below. You’ll then be asked to review and update special requests before signing and submitting. Thank you for your work with the ASA community! We're so looking forward to gathering in Chicago.

    Participation Agreement Requirements

    • You agree to attend and participate in person for the session(s) and role(s) listed above at the 2026 ASA annual conference in Chicago, October 22-25, 2026. 

    • You understand your session(s) may be scheduled at any time during the conference dates and hours (October 22-25, 2026; 8:30am-5pm) and by signing this document you agree to participate as scheduled. You acknowledge that you cannot request a new date and time for any reason (including teaching assignments and travel preferences) unless you receive an exception for disability, medical, or religious reasons.

    • All session rooms will have microphones and a speaker provided. You understand that additional A/V capability is not provided for all sessions. You have reviewed the above information for your session(s) and understand which session(s) will have A/V capability. You understand that if the session says "No A/V," there will not be A/V capabilities for that session beyond microphones.

    • You understand that requests for scheduling, virtual participation etc. that you may have put in your proposal are not reviewed by ASA and cannot be honored. Only requests described below and submitted as indicated will be considered for approval by ASA.

      The ASA annual meeting welcomes thousands of scholars across hundreds of sessions and planning is managed by a small team. Please understand that we are unable to accommodate individual scheduling requests.  

    • By signing this agreement, you commit to participate in your session(s) in-person in Chicago. 
       
      • A limited number of exceptions to participate virtually may be granted by ASA staff; you understand that you must apply for these exceptions between April 22 and May 13, 2026 via the Virtual Accommodations Request Form. Requests received outside this time period or outside of the form above will not be accepted. You must apply AND receive written approval from ASA staff in order to present virtually.

      • Virtual accommodations are made for individuals, not sessions as a whole. You understand that virtual accommodation approval for other participants in your session does not constitute approval for you to also present virtually.

        Why can’t ASA accommodate more virtual requests? Please review this link for more information. 

      • You understand that presentation by proxy or pre-recordings of papers, comments, or other presentation elements in lieu of in-person participation at the annual meeting is not permitted under any circumstances and may impact your eligibility to participate at future conferences.

    • With rare exceptions, withdrawals or no-shows (failure to officially withdraw) after the submission of this participation agreement may affect your ability to present at the annual meeting for up to two years. It is important to notify your session chair if you must withdraw AND to officially withdraw participation from the conference using this form: 2026 Withdrawal Form.

    • You understand that you must register for the annual meeting by September 1, 2026. Failure to register by this date will result in your removal from the program.

    • You understand that annual membership and conference registration are two separate processes and require two separate payments. Paying for your annual membership or having been granted a membership waiver does not automatically register you for the conference. Membership waivers do not include a waiver of conference registration fees.
