Take Action for Anchorage Trails & Active Transportation
  • Take Action: Trails & Active Transportation Are Essential!

Alaska's Congressional Delegation has the power to influence the next federal surface transportation bill, providing millions for safe trails and active transportation projects. Existing transportation funding, included in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, expires in September 2026.
  • We, the undersigned, believe trails and active transportation are essential federal investments.

Trails showcase our region's spectacular natural beauty and power our local economy. We ask that you work with your colleagues to provide the funding to create a seamless, connected system of trails, sidewalks, bicycle facilities and greenways that support safe and equitable mobility for all residents:

    • Increase funding for the federal Transportation Alternatives Program
    • Expand funding for the federal Recreational Trails Program
    • Sustain and grow funding for the federal Active Transportation Infrastructure Investment Program

In Anchorage, these programs have built safe sidewalks and multi-use trails. They will build the Fish Creek Trail and connect the Ship Creek Trail to the Coastal Trail. They can also be used to build segments of Alaska's Long Trail and the Kenai Mountain Bike Trail, connecting us to Seward and the Mat-Su.

Demand continues to grow, and existing infrastructure remains far short of what is needed to make it safe and convenient for Alaska families to walk, bike and be active. Please use your power to increase funding for trails and active transportation.
