Absences: No refunds will be given for missed classes.

    2. Non-Payment
Students whose payments are not received by the due date will be removed from the class roster until payment is made in full. Continued non-payment may result in discontinuation of service and/or not being allowed to attend classes at The Workshop.

  • Wellness Policy: Stay Home If You're Sick

At The Workshop, we prioritize the health and well-being of all students, families, and volunteers. In order to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment, we ask that students do not attend class if they are sick. This policy helps prevent the spread of illness and ensures that everyone stays as healthy as possible.

    Guidelines for Illness:

Stay Home if You Have Symptoms: If your child is experiencing symptoms of illness, such as fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, or nausea, please keep them home from class. It's best to rest and recover fully before returning to class.
COVID-19 & Other Contagious Illnesses: If your child has been diagnosed with a contagious illness, such as COVID-19, the flu, or another viral infection, please keep them home until they are no longer contagious and have recovered.
When to Return to Class: A student should only return to class once they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication (e.g., fever-reducing drugs).

    Notify the Teacher:

If your child will be absent due to illness, please notify the instructor as soon as possible. This helps us plan for any missed lessons or assignments and provides an opportunity for make-up work.

  • Drop off and Pick Up Policy

    1. Please check in your child at our front desk before going to class.

    2. Pick up needs to be on time due to not having supervision of your child once they exit the classroom. Please be courteous of our volunteers and be on time.

    3. If you know you will be  late picking up your child please contact the teacher via text or The Workshop immediately.

Parents/guardians must come into The Workshop to pick up their child. Curb pick-ups are not permitted for students under 12 years of age.

    Contacting Parents/Teachers

    ●  If a parent needs to get in touch with a teacher quickly, a text is the best way.
If the teacher is not responding, call The Workshop at 907-717-3330.

●If a parent needs to be contacted immediately,  the teacher will text and/or call. If the parent does not respond a message will be left and the next person on the emergency contact list will be contacted.

  • Weather Cancellations Policy

The Workshop will run off of the Anchorage School District cancellations for weather. If ASD cancels school for weather then classes will be cancelled at The Workshop.

  • The Workshop's Behavior Policy

At The Workshop, we are committed to creating a positive, respectful, and productive learning environment for all students. We believe that clear expectations and mutual respect are key to fostering a space where everyone can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

    1. Respectful Communication

Respectful Language: Students are expected to use kind and respectful language when speaking to peers, teachers, and other individuals. This includes avoiding hurtful or offensive language, as well as listening attentively when others are speaking.

Active Listening: Students will practice listening actively when others are speaking, allowing everyone the opportunity to express themselves fully without interruption.

    2. Respect for Others and the Classroom Environment

Kindness & Cooperation: Students should treat each other with kindness and cooperation, both during lessons and during breaks. Bullying, teasing, or exclusion of others is not acceptable.

Personal Space: Students should respect each other's personal space and avoid disruptive behavior, including physical contact or unnecessary noise.

Care for Materials & Equipment: Students should take care of the classroom materials, books, and supplies. All items should be used appropriately and returned to their proper place at the end of each session.

    3. Punctuality and Preparedness

Timeliness: Students should arrive on time for class and be ready to begin work promptly. If a student is late, they should catch up on any missed material without disturbing the class.

Preparedness: Students are expected to come to class prepared with any necessary materials (e.g., notebooks, pens, assignments, etc.), having completed any assigned work or readings.

    4. Focus and Engagement

Active Participation: Students are encouraged to engage actively in lessons and activities, asking questions, contributing to discussions, and staying focused on the task at hand.

No Distractions: Students should refrain from using electronic devices (unless for classwork), engaging in off-topic activities, or otherwise distracting themselves or others during class time.

    5. Consequences for Misbehavior

We believe in a proactive approach to behavior management, with an emphasis on teaching self-regulation and responsibility. If a student displays behavior that disrupts the learning environment or violates this policy, the following steps will be taken:

Verbal Warning: The teacher will give a friendly reminder of the class expectations and discuss the behavior with the student.

Time-Out/Reflection: If the behavior persists, the student may be asked to take a brief time-out to reflect on their actions and return to the class once they are ready to participate positively.

Parent/Guardian Notification: If the behavior continues to be disruptive, the teacher will contact the student’s parents or guardians to discuss the situation and develop a plan of support.

Further Action: In cases of repeated or severe disruption and or inappropriate behavior will be dealt with by the Education Director, teacher, and Executive Director. This may result in a student not being able to participate in classes with no refund.

By adhering to these expectations, we can create a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning, growth, and mutual respect.
