  • Springhill Main Street Match Project Grants provide funds to encourage the revitalization of downtown commerical properties in the designated Springhill Main Street District. Match Project grants serve as an effort to promote community reviatlization and stimulate economic growth and vitality, in addition to enriching cultural tourism. Community reinvestment preservation practices improve community economic health by fostering renewed interest in shopping, working, and living downtown.

    One grant is awarded by the City of Springhill per quarter.

    Deadline: July 15, 2026

    Grant recipients should receive notice by early-August 2026.

    Grant-funded work, must be completed by December 31, 2026 in order to receive grant payment. 

    Who Can Apply: Building owners, business owners, and business managers of properties and businesses within the Springhill Main Street District.

    • Tenants must obtain the property owner's consent signature on the grant application. The grant application must be accompanied by a statement authorizing the applicant to act on behalf of property owner. The statement must be signed by all property owners.
    • If the applicant is a corporation, the grant application must be accompanied by a resolution from the corporation's board of directors authorizing the applicants signature on behalf of the corporation.
    • If the applicant is the co-owner of a property, the grant application must be accompanied by a statement authorizing the applicant to act on behalf of all the co-owners. The statement must be signed by all co-owners.

    Certificate of Appropriateness: Issuance of a Certificate of Appropriateness (COA) by the Springhill Historic District Commission for all buildings located within the Springhill Historic District will be required. Please contact (318)578-3909 for form.

    Tax Liabilities: Recipients of grants are responsible for any tax liabilty incurred as a result of this grant. Recipients will receive a 1099 miscellaneous income form for use in preparing tax returns for the year in which the grant payment is issued.

    Matching Funds: This grant requires a dollar-for-dollar monetary match toward hard costs. Grant funds are limited to construction/restoration costs only. Owner or tenant contributions of design work, or other sweat equity equipment, etc. are regarded as in-kind and are not considered as matching funds for the purpose of this grant. The maximum grant match is $2,000.

    This is a reimbursement grant: The award amount is paid upon completion of the work described in the approved scope of work noted in the grant agreement which is executed after the recipients are announced. All grant-funded work must adhere to conditions listed below. 

     

    Grant Criteria 

    Exterior: The scope of work must directly contribute visually and economically to the revitalization of the Springhill Main Street District.

    Interior: Interior improvements are restricted to exposing an inviting atmosphere visible from the principal street view of the building.

    Signage: Restoration or installation of significant and/or landmark signage, including but not limited to new commercial signage. 

    Main Street requires an invoice or receipt from contractor confirming the total cost of scope of work.

    What is not funded:

    General Maintenance (example: roofing, plumbing, electrical, cleaning)

    Energy Efficiency

    Fire Suppression Systems

    Holiday and landscape lighting and decorations 

    Furniture and equipment (interior or exterior)

    Promotional materials (example: television, print, social media, radio)

    Installation of electronic security and exterior security measures.
