    Becoming a Election Worker is a great way to be part of the voting process. Bilingual workers(English / Spanish) are also needed at each location. Some of the requirements include: -Be a registered voter in Hidalgo County -Have your own transportation -Attend the mandatory training held by the Hidalgo County Elections Department -Able to assist in setting up and packing up voting equipment, including lifting up to 35lbs -Able to work 12-15 hour days
  • -Can not be:

    1. an elected official of any jurisdiction;
    2. a candidate on the ballot, or;
    3. employed by or related within the second degree by blood or marriage to an opposed candidate on the ballot

     

    A typical election day start with setting up the polling place at 6:00 A.M. or 6:30 A.M., voting from 7:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M., and up then taking down the voting equipment and packing up supplies for up to 2 hours or less.

    Pay Rate:

    Pay rate starts at $12.00 per hour
