  • LETTER TO THE BOARD OF FINANCE IN SUPPORT OF FUNDING FOR THE FERGUSON LIBRARY

Submissions will be emailed to Tracy Donoghue, the Clerk of the Board, at tdonoghue@stamfordct.gov
  • Dear Members of the Board of Finance,

I am writing as a Stamford resident to urge full support for the Ferguson Library’s operating budget. This isn’t just about books, the Library is a lifeline for our community, offering education, technology, job training, English and citizenship classes, and programs for youth, seniors, and families. At a time when libraries across the country face cuts and uncertainty, Stamford has the power to ensure its Library remains strong, accessible, and fully capable of serving every resident. Investing in the Library is investing in our community’s future.

I also strongly urge approval of funding for the East Side Library branch at Courtland Park. This branch will bring vital services to a historically under-resourced neighborhood, while leveraging its co-location with park and recreation facilities to maximize community impact. Approving $350,000 for design services unlocks the $3 million in federal funds already awarded, a four-year-old investment that cannot be left on the table. Failing to act risks wasting federal dollars, undermining Stamford’s credibility for future funding, and denying our residents the services they deserve. This is a moment to act boldly, secure resources, and deliver on a promise to our community.
