    Thank you for your interest in Lakeshore's 2026 Summer youth Aquatics and Athletic programs. Youth programs are open to current Lakeshore youth members with a physical disability and/or visual impairment. To become a member, visit lakeshore.org/visit.

  • Youth Aquatics Registration

    All participants must be current Lakeshore members and independent in a group setting. Siblings in age range may participate where noted. Please register for each day you would like to attend. Each child may register for a maximum of 2 days per week. Times may be adjusted pending registration numbers.
  • Youth Athletics

    No previous athletic experience is required and equipment is provided. Each sport has weekly practices, and athletes may travel to regional and national competitions. Youth athletic participants must join or be current Lakeshore members.

    Archery and Shooting 

    February -July Ages 6 to 20

    Monday and Wednesday 5-7 p.m.; outdoor practices scheduled individually

    Beginner to competitive program for youth with all types of physical disabilities. 

    Boccia

    Year-round

    Ages 6 to 18+ Mondays & Wednesdays 5-6:30 p.m. Or by appointment

    Swim Team 

    Year-round Ages 6 and up

    Monday-Thursday 4-6 p.m.

    March 31- May 26: Tuesdays- 2:00-4:00 pm at the Birmimgham Crossplex & 4:00-6:00 pm at Lakeshore

    June 2 - July 28: Tuesdays- 3:00-5:00 pm at the Birmingham Crossplex ONLY

    Beginning May 29, optional practices held Fridays 8-10 a.m at Lakeshore

    Track and Field

    February -July Ages 6 to 22

    Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:00-7:30 p.m. Or by appointment Beginner to competitive program for youth with all types of physical disabilities (wheelchair, visual impairment and ambulatory). Location: Lakeshore Foundation/Waldrop Stadium dependent on weather and track availability)

    Wheelchair Tennis

    Year-round Ages 6 to 18

    Tuesday & Wednesday- 2:30-3:30 p.m. at the Lakeshore Tennis Center or Lakeshore Fieldhouse in inclement weather.

    Athletes who have lower limb impairment are invited to participate on our Youth Lakeshore Tennis team. Must be able to independently push their chair and consistently make contact with a ball using a racket.

    Our programs are designed specifically for youth with qualifying physical disabilities and/or chronic health conditions who meet the program requirements.  While your child is not eligible for Lakeshore Foundation's youth programming, we are happy to answer questions and help connect you with other area programs.  Please contact 205-313-7400.
