  • Project Goal:

This not-for-profit project aims to create video content that can be used by any organization to improve public understanding of the value and impact of the many climate and conservation projects taking place throughout Maine — along with ways people can get involved to support that work.

To do this, we're capturing video conversations with you (the people doing the work) to share your stories, insights, and more.

Scroll down to the bottom for more info on the project.

  • Project Details & FAQ

    • How will the videos be used?
    • We plan to record with folks for up to 15 minutes, and from that, we'll break up the content into short clips based on the various themes/topics that are captured during the conversation.

Here are some examples from a previous project for Trout Unlimited about funding river restoration, and another about climate change and the impact on Maine's rivers.

We may add environmental footage to complement your interview, or we can use graphics to visualize details. Or maybe we meet up later this season and film some footage of the work you're doing — we're open to everything.

The goal is to create a not-for-profit content library, full of educational and inspirational clips that can be leveraged by land trusts, as well as municipalities, teachers, community groups, and others — all to support public outreach and education around climate, conservation, water quality, and more.

    • What if my agency/organization needs to review all public communications?
    • We have worked with many State and Federal agencies in the past, and we know that many of you need to check any and all outgoing presentations/content with your internal Communications Team.

We're more than happy to coordinate with your organization's communications staff to share footage, transcripts, or drafts of the video for review and approval before anything is posted publicly.

This project is designed to arm organizations like yours with the content they need to engage the public, and we're committed to doing that in a way that works within your organization's workflow.

    • Who can participate?
    • Anyone in attendance at the Maine Land Conservation Conference is welcome to record. We're looking for people to share what's on their minds when it comes to the work you're all doing in Maine.

That could be a recent project success, the state of conservation in your region, insights from your organization, a call-to-action for Mainers to get involved, a personal story, and anything else.

    • What do I need to do to prepare?
    • Nothing. We'll have a camera set up, and all you need to do is grab a seat, and chat with us.

      • If you have something you want to focus on — great.
      • If you don't — we're curious about what you do, and we're happy to ask questions and see where the conversation goes.

We'll send an email a few days ahead of the conference to confirm your time slot and provide contact info for our team. We'll also send one text message reminder on the day of the event.

If you need to reschedule for any reason, you can stop by the filming location within the conference or respond to the text message to coordinate a new time.

We'll accommodate drop-in interviews during the day's events if we're not already booked, but we encourage people to sign up for a time slot to help us plan our day.

    • What if I have questions?
    • We're here to answer questions, or discuss the project in more detail.
