Hi, and thank you for applying to our 9th annual Umoja Kijana Shujaa Youth Leadership Cohort. We are thrilled you are taking the time to let us know more about you! About the cohort: Umoja Kijana Shujaa is an eight-week leadership cohort designed to empower Black TQN2SIA+ youth to become leaders in their community. The program will cover topics such as racial justice, self-advocacy, community organizing, and political education through a Black Queer feminist lens. Participants will be paid $19 per hour, and we will meet on Thursdays starting June 26th, with at least two sessions outside the regular Thursday meeting time (PDX Pride weekend and Night Out for Safety and Liberation). Participants renting in Multnomah County will receive full rent assistance for the two-month program. About the application: This application will take approximately 30 minutes and cover demographic information, some get-to-know-you questions, and your learning goals for the cohort.
