  • Nominations must relate to activities carried out since the previous Energy Safety Awards (formerly named Offshore Safety Awards - last held on 1 July 2025). 

    All nominations are reviewed by an independent judging panel using consistent criteria across all categories.

    The Energy Safety Awards recognise individuals, teams and organisations across the energy industry who are making a positive impact on safety, culture, wellbeing and operational performance.

    To make the nomination process simpler and more accessible, all award categories follow the same entry format. When completing your nomination, please refer to the description of the selected award category and ensure your entry reflects what the award is intended to recognise.

    • Award Description - Safety Representative of the Year

      This award recognises an enthusiastic and committed Elected Safety Representative or onshore equivalent who has positively influenced the safety agenda, culture or behaviours at their worksite.

    • Award Description - Aviation Safety

      This award recognises an individual, team or organisation who have demonstrated a passion for safety, leads by example, and continuously strives for safe operations. Ultimately resulting in a positive influence on the safety culture, behaviours or operational performance in an aviation environment. This is applicable to onshore and offshore.

    • Award Description - Decommissioning Safety

      This award recognises an individual, team or organisation who have demonstrated a  passion for safety, leads by example and continuously strives for safe operations which has had a positive influence on the safety culture, behaviours or operational performance in a decommissioning environment.

    • Award Description - Major Accident Hazard

      This award recognises an individual, team or organisation who have positively influenced or improved a major accident hazard system in risk management, system efficiency, reliability, and/or operability through a modification and/or an innovative solution.

    • Award Description - Sharing & Learning

      This award recognises an individual or team who have demonstrated a  practical example of how they actively collaborated, influenced or enhanced a sharing and learning culutre with the safety of their employing organisation, place of work or within OEUK and/or Step Change in Safety.

      The contribution to safety could be through their participation in a workgroup over a sustained period of time, their involvement in developing and introducing guidance or compilation of a high value learning opportunity.

    • Award Description - Wellbeing

      This award recognises an individual or team who have actively engaged in improving their working environment and/or company approach to employee wellbeing.

    • Award Description - Site Leader

      This award recognises an enthusiastic and committed Site Leader who has demonstrably influenced the safety agenda, culture and/or behaviours at their site.

    • Award Description - Workforce Engagement

      This award recognises an individual or team that has actively engaged with co-workers on safety matters, demonstrating how their engagement has contributed to improving the safety culture and/or operational performance at their worksite or employing organisation.

    • Award Description - Outstanding Contribution to Safety

      This award recognises an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to safety in the energy industry over a prolonged period of time - a role model that inspires others.

    • If your nomination is shortlisted, the nominee will be asked to submit:

      • A short selfie video (45–90 seconds)
      • A completed poster template

      Both will be used at the event to clearly and simply explain what you, your team or organisation has done and why you’ve been nominated, helping attendees understand each finalist before casting their vote.

      Winners will be decided by event delegates on the day and announced on 20 August 2026.
