Criteria for Rachel B. Banks Youth Fund Grant Awards
1. Funds will be available to totally or partially subsidize programs or activities to enhance the lives of the Jewish youth (from birth through 18 years of age) in the Richmond area.
2. Any properly credentialed and experienced organization, agency, group, civic, social or religious organization is invited to submit applications for funds.
3. The RJF Grants Committee is primarily interested in receiving proposals which address current unmet needs of Jewish youth or which develop innovative and creative approaches to enhance the programs, services, or lifestyle of Jewish youth in the Richmond, VA area. Specifically the primary criterion for accepting a program is that it present a new idea or innovative approach to an existing program which requires funds not otherwise provided in the applicant's operating budget.
The Committee looks particularly favorably upon programs designed to be shared with other agencies and local institutions. If the new program has not exploited the "market" fully in its first year, it may consider a request for a second year funding. If after that, the program does indeed prove to be worthwhile, it is expected that the applicant will incorporate it in future years in the regular operating budget of the agency.
4. All applicants must complete an application form from the Foundation. Applicants may be requested to make a verbal presentation if necessary.
5. Approved programs shall be reimbursed upon receipt of an itemized expense schedule, together with a status report on the program. Status report should include:
- A brief narrative of the program
- Success of the program as judged against its goals. For example, did the program meet outlined expectations? How many children benefitted from the program? The actual budget of the program and the percent funded by the grant.
- If this program is successful, how will it be funded in the future after the period of support from the Banks Fund concludes?
