    Penobscot Marine Museum seeks arts and crafts inspired by sardines to be entered into the Sardine Crafts Exhibition Hall during the 2026 SardineFest. Please complete this form to register your entry.
  • Sardine Crafts Exhibition Hall Information
    Date: October 3, 2026
    Location: Penobscot Marine Museum, Searsport, Maine
    Registration Deadline: 5pm Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026

    • General Exhibition Hall Rules 
      • Ribbons will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category
      • Only items made by the exhibitor may be entered
      • Only one item per person can be entered into the Sardine Crafts Exhibition Hall
      • Judging standards and disputes
        • Judges’ decisions are final
        • Judging criteria:
          • Expression of Theme
          • Aesthetic Appeal - visual impact, balance of elements
          • Originality/Creativity
          • Workmanship - good technique
          • Choice of Materials
      • Entries must be able to be displayed in an area no larger than 24” X 24” X 24”
        • i.e. textiles may be folded to fit in available space
      • Entries are displayed at the exhibitor’s risk.
        • Penobscot Marine Museum is not responsible for loss or damage to exhibited items
    • Drop-off and Pick-up Instructions 
    • Drop-off

      • Items must be dropped off with accompanying form at the Penobscot Marine Museum Store (40 E. Main St., Searsport) between 2:30pm and 4:30pm on Tuesday, September 29th
      • OR participants must email Jeana at jganskop@pmm-maine.org to make other arrangements for drop-off

      Pick-up

      • Entries can be picked up between 4pm and 5pm on Saturday, October 3rd at TBD
      • Entries can also be picked up between 10am and 5pm on Tuesday, October 6th at the Penobscot Marine Museum Store (40 E. Main St., Searsport).

      • Original work only - entry must be original work created and signed by the exhibitor
      • No copies or reproductions
      • Display requirements
        • All paintings, drawings, and photographs larger than 8X10 must be framed or matted
        • Entries larger than 8X10 must be ready to hang safely and securely.
        • A sturdy wire must be attached to the back of the frame or board for hanging, or may be rejected
        • Entries must not be excessively heavy or fragile
      • Includes: Paint, Drawing, Digital (Computer Art), Printmaking, Photography-Black & White, Photography-Color, Sculpture, Mixed Media, etc.

      Needlework

      • Includes: Sewing (Clothing, Doll Clothing, Linens, etc.), Quilts, Quilted Items, Crocheted Items, Knitted Items, Counted Cross Stitched Items, Needlepoint Items, Crewel Work, Other Handiwork, Christmas/Holiday Decor

      Crafts and Hobbies

      • Includes: anything not needlework, art, or photography
