    Bye Bye Birdie Audition Form

    Creative Greensboro will hold auditions for “Bye Bye Birdie,” a musical comedy  with Book by Michael Stewart, Music by Charles Strouse, L yrics by Lee Adams and directed by Todd Fisher, Wesley McCleary and Carrie Plew. Auditions will be held on Monday, May 4 and Tuesday, May 5, from 7-9 pm in the Stephen D Hyers theatre at the Greensboro Cultural Center, 200 N. Davie St. Actors ages 12 and older of all experience levels, genders, ethnicities, or racial identities are welcome to register for an audition.     Actors should prepare 16 bars of a contemporary Broadway musical to sing for their audition. Accompanment is provided, or bring your own audio recording.  All actors will be asked to participate in a brief movement audition. Actors are asked not to audition with a song from “Bye, Bye Birdie.” Rehearsals are in the evenings and on weekends as schedules permit. Performances will take place June 25-28.     MRS. MAE PETERSON – Albert's mother, the quintessential "Mama"
    MR. HARRY MACAFEE – Father of Kim and Randolph (Range: C3-E4)
    MRS. DORIS MACAFEE – Mother of Kim and Randolph (Range: Bb3-F5)
    KIM MACAFEE – "15 years old" Younger or older actors will be considered. , determined and self-possessed (Range: G3-Ab5)
    RANDOLPH MACAFEE – Kim's younger brother (Range: D3-D4)
    HUGO PEABODY – Kim's "steady," nerdy but sincere
    URSULA MERKLE – A hyper-enthusiastic friend and neighbor of Kim's (Range: D4-F5)
    GLORIA RASPUTIN – A broad, tap-dancing "secretary." Mae's choice to replace Rosie

    First round Audition Choreography video will be sent out by Friday May 1 

    We will accept video submission only for actors that cannot make it to the primary audition call. You must be available fo May 6 call back to be considered for a pricipal role. We will only cast pricipal actors based on those who we have seen in person.  A link to your video submission can be emailed to todd.fisher@greensboro-nc.gov Be sure to send a follow up self tape of you performing the choreography.  Live accompainment is prefered for Self Taping. 

     

    Creative Greensboro’s drama programming provides the community opportunities to participate in all aspects of live theater, from auditioning, casting, rehearsals, stage management, and performance. The program emphasizes process over product and provides experiential learning while showcasing quality productions and having fun.

By signing the registration form, I acknowledge all risks of injury, illness and death and affirm that I have assumed all responsibility of injury, illness or death in any way connected with participation in the program. I also agree for myself and for any child participant to follow all rules and procedures for the program and to follow reasonable instructions of the teachers and supervisors of the program. In return for the opportunity to participate in this program, I agree for myself and for my heirs, assigns, executors and administrators to release, acquit, waive and forever discharge any legal rights I may have to seek payment or relief of any kind from the City of Greensboro, its officers, employees, agents or its volunteers for injury, illness, death or property loss resulting from this program. If I am registering a child for a program, I agree that I am a parent, legal guardian, or am otherwise responsible for the child whose application I am submitting and that I release, waive, and discharge any legal rights that I may request on behalf of the child participant in the program. I also agree not to sue the City, its officers, employees or agents and agree to indemnify the City for all claims, damages, losses, or expenses, including attorney’s fees, if a suit is filed concerning an injury, illness or death to me or my child resulting from participation in the program. Permission is given for any emergency medical treatment which might become necessary and I agree to be responsible for the expense of medical treatment or service.

    Image Release:

    I, the undersigned, hereby consent to allow the exclusive use of, and relinquish all rights to, photographs, recordings and reproductions in any manner (including but not limited to the use of photos, video and audiotapes) of the likeness, voice, and/or activities of the participant and further authorize the City of Greensboro, its agents or assigns, to make unlimited use of such reproductions, including but not limited to print and/or electronically, broadcasting of the reproduction over radio, television, and on the internet with or without your name for any lawful purpose. I acknowledge that no compensation will be provided for such use by the City. I understand that this Release shall remain in effect unless a subsequent written notification is provided to the City.
