This one-day pre-conference workshop provides an overview of the Connect program—an evidence-supported, attachment-based parenting intervention—and highlights new developments in implementation and research across diverse cultures, contexts, and countries. The meeting is open to all SEAS conference registrants interested in learning about the Connect model, current research and practice applications, and opportunities to engage with the growing Connect International Network.
The workshop opens with an overview of the foundations of the Connect model—its structure, core mechanisms, and therapeutic processes—alongside illustrated session components. Three panel discussions follow, featuring an international slate of speakers who will discuss program adaptations and implementation with diverse populations, including fathers; adoptive, kinship, and foster caregivers; and childcare staff working in youth homes. Speakers will also address applications across countries and cultural contexts, including implementation with families in Japan, displaced Ukrainian families in Canada, and parents and caregivers in Kenya and South Africa.
The meeting will conclude with a discussion of collaboration opportunities, diversification of the delivery of Connect and continued efforts to promote international accessibility, scaling, and sustainability.
