    To be considered, the student must download the Instructor Verification Form (PDF) and send it to their instructor or internship supervisor. The instructor/supervisor must complete the form and email it to ncrfoundation@ncra.org by June 30, 2026.

    Essay instructions for student:

    • Essay must be 300-500 words on the topic: echnology, training, and personal discipline all play vital roles in stenographic careers. What strategies or tools do you rely on (or plan to rely on) to succeed in your training, and how will these prepare you for the challenges of a career in stenography? (Please use examples.)
    • REQUIRED: Essay must be double-spaced and include the student's first and last name on each page.
    • File name format: LastName_FirstName_Essay.pdf (example: Smith_Jordan_Essay.pdf).

    • is a current NCRA student member;
    • is enrolled in a stenographic court reporting program;
    • must have passed at least one of the program’s Q&A or literary tests at a minimum of 140 wpm;
    • has a grade point average of at least a 3.5 overall based on a 4.0 standard or equivalent;
    • possesses all the qualities exemplified by a professional court reporter, including professional attitude, demeanor, dress, and motivation as confirmed in a letter of recommendation.
