FAQs
1. Can my downtown business sign-up to be on the downtown artwalk map any month?
As we are just getting started, we ask that businesses sign up in the following timeline:
May: West Pearl thru 1200 block
June: West Pearl thru 1300 block
July: West Pearl thru 1400 block
August: West Pearl thru 1500 block
September: West Pearl thru 1600 block
October: West Pearl thru 1700 block
November: West Pearl thru 1800 block
December: West Pearl thru 1900 block
2. Can sponsors can join at any time?
Yes! Sponsors can join for any upcoming month.
3. What is the difference between a sponsorship & an artwalk location?
Artwalk locations are businesses that will have an art activation from 4-7pm ($68/month marketing fee).
Sponsors are businesses that will be listed on the map as supporters ($250/month towards marketing and logo on the map).
4. What do you mean by ‘arts activation’?
Create a free, creative experience for the public that differentiates DFF from every other day on the mall.
5. What counts as an 'art activation?'
Examples are live music, art exhibition, live painting, interactive art, etc.
Each location is required to have a creative experience that is free to the public. Downtown First Friday is designed to support the brick and mortar businesses who persevere year round, so no pop-ups as your art activation please.
6. Can you give me some examples?
Shoe shop? Find a poet to compose sonnets about customers' footwear. Honey store? Bring in a songwriter to sing about mead. Or: choose your own arts adventure!
If you want to support DFF but are not able to host an art activation, consider a sponsorship, which will support the walk and promote your business!
7. What does my contribution pay for?
It costs our nonprofit organization $3,500+ to orchestrate this art walk each month. We create and disseminate the graphics, run the SM campaign, purchase 4 BIG Daily Camera ads, print postcards/posters & oversee all of the details. Your contribution defrays a small percentage of our costs, ensuring that DFF is successful for all downtown businesses!
