Indoor Camp counselors are responsible for the safety and experience of our campers ages 5 - 12. Counselors will maintain a high level of safety and order, and provide a safe and exciting experience for all campers. During the day, counselors will run a variety of climbing games, belay participants, facilitate activities such as arts and crafts, and oversee outdoor games. Counselors will closely manage snack and lunch breaks, assisting with any needs like opening containers and cutting sandwiches. Counselors will communicate professionally with parents during drop off and pick up to notify them of any pertinent information in regards to their camper. Additionally, counselors will handle any issues with our three strike policy, providing appropriate discipline to participants and bringing issues to the youth programs coordinator and managers when necessary. Counselors will also participate in daily meetings after all children are picked up to discuss the day.
Outdoor Camp Counselors are responsible for maintaining a high level of outdoor safety, including transporting campers up to an hour away. Counselors will gather campers in the morning and first ensure everyone has all of their required gear. Counselors will then load everyone into the van and drive to the first destination of the day (either rock climbing or hiking). Counselors will be continually doing head checks throughout the day. Lunch and snack breaks may be taken at varied times, depending on the activity and how the group is feeling. Counselors are also responsible for overseeing swimming activities and staying aware of weather conditions, making safety calls when necessary. Summer camp staff hold a meeting after every day of camp to discuss the day and any issues. Staff are expected to bring issues to the youth programs coordinator and managers when necessary. Counselors will host professional interactions with parents during drop off and pick up, discussing the day's activities, any changes to plans, and bringing up any concerns.
