Basin Electric Youth Excursion

Attention high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors! If you live in Central Electric’s footprint, you are eligible to apply for an unforgettable summer experience. Attendees will take a bus trip to Bismarck, N.D., for a youth event unlike any other: Youth Excursion.

From July 20-22, 2026, participants will stay on campus at Bismarck State College. During this time, students will have the opportunity to gain leadership skills while they make friends and gain a new understanding of electricity. Students will tour the Great Plains Synfuel Plant, Freedom Coal Mine and Antelope Valley Station Power Plant to see where South Dakota’s power is generated.

The application is below. You must attach a written recommendation from a teacher, 4-H advisor or FFA advisor explaining why you are a good candidate for the trip.
