    • Alignment with the Scholarship Program objectives
    • The applicant’s readiness to apply 

     

  • Section I – Scholarship Program Overview

  • The Tribal-ISAC Cybersecurity & Technology Leadership Program (Scholarship Program) supports professional education that strengthens cybersecurity and technology operations within tribal governments and enterprises. 

    Awards are competitive, reimbursement-based, and subject to available Scholarship Program funding and the Scholarship Program Policy. 

    Maximum award per recipient: $5,000 

    All funding decisions are final and not subject to appeal. 

    Applicants will be notified of award decisions following the application review process. Processing timelines may vary based on application volume and Scholarship Program funding availability. 

  • Section II – Applicant Eligibility

  • Applicants must meet all the following requirements:

     

  • I am employed by a Federally recognized tribe*
  • I am listed on the official membership roster of a Tribal-ISAC member organization in good standing at the time of application and reimbursement (active, paid membership with required agreements in place)*
  • I hold responsibilities related to cybersecurity, IT operations, risk management, governance, or technology leadership*
  • Applications that do not meet eligibility requirements will not be reviewed.

  • Scholarship awards are reimbursement-based and will be issued after completion of the approved activity and submission of required documentation, including proof of attendance or certification completion and receipts for eligible expenses. 

    Tribal-ISAC retains sole discretion in determining the eligibility of expenses and final reimbursement amounts based on the Scholarship Program Policy and submitted documentation.  

  • Section V – Narrative Responses

  • Applications are evaluated competitively based on organizational impact, alignment with the Scholarship Program objectives and the applicant’s readiness to apply the knowledge gained. Please respond thoughtfully and specifically and include concrete examples where possible.

  • Section VII – Tax Considerations

  • Scholarship reimbursements under this Program are issued to the applicable Tribal-ISAC member entity rather than directly to individual recipients. 

    Tribal-ISAC does not provide tax advice and makes no representation regarding the tax treatment of scholarship funds. Participating tribes, tribal enterprises, and recipients are responsible for determining any applicable tax obligations and should consult their own tax advisors if needed. 

  • Section VIII – Employment Status

  • Participation in the Scholarship Program does not create any employment relationship between Tribal-ISAC and scholarship recipients. Recipients remain employees of their respective tribal organizations, and all employment decisions, responsibilities, and policies remain solely under the authority of the recipient’s employer. 

    Tribal-ISAC assumes no responsibility for employment-related matters, including compensation, job responsibilities, or continued employment of Scholarship Program participants.
