Clone of 2025 Winter Symposium and 2026 Annual Conference Workshop Call for Proposals
  • Conference/Event Training Workshop Proposals

Submit a workshop proposal for KSBA's 2026 Summer Leadership Institute, July 10-11 in Lexington
  • KSBA is currently accepting proposals for a limited number of workshop sessions during the association's 2026 Summer Leadership Institute. Most workshops are 75-minutes in length while a few 3-hour options are made available. Questions may be directed to training@ksba.org. All submissions to be considered for KSBA's 2026 Summer Leadership Institute must be received by Sunday, April 12.

The purpose of these sessions will be for presenters to share their experiences, information, knowledge or research about successful programs in their district or topics of critical importance to board members and education leaders. We ask that presenters prepare to entertain some audience questions (time permitting).

All KSBA conferences offer a wide variety of session topics, however the association's summer conference often puts extra emphasis on leadership.

Please carefully read the guidelines and expectations for KSBA workshop proposals. Navigating away from this form page may cause you to lose your progess, so it is recommended that you review the guidelines first before proceeding to the form below.

Please note that failure of a presenter(s) to meet the expectations listed below (as well as other expectations included in the guidelines document) may result in KSBA declining to accept their session proposals for future conferences.

    Conference sessions MUST:

    • Relate to local school board member and/or board team roles and responsibilities.
    • Reflect the core work, actions and styles of effective school boards.
    • Clearly identify what the participants will learn and ideally take away from the session for application in their work as district leaders.
    • Offer objective information that will be beneficial to all participants regardless of whether that member’s school district hires a presenter’s company. KSBA will not accept proposals for sessions designed to sell a product or service under the guise of professional development.

All presenters must submit an online conference registration form following the acceptance of the proposal. (The conference registration fee will be waived for one presenter per session and is non-transferrable. Fees for meals and pre-conference sessions apply). Presenters contribute their services in a volunteer capacity.

Presentation materials (slides and/or summary handouts) must be submitted electronically to KSBA no later than two weeks prior to the event so they may be made  available to attendees in advance.

KSBA reserves the right to review presentation materials ahead of the session to ensure they meet criteria.

  • Format: (000) 000-0000.

  • Learning Outcomes

Use the spaces below to provide a minimum of one (and up to three) learning outcomes of your proposed session. KSBA may use these in conference promotional materials to help conference attendees select sessions. (Examples: Deeper understanding of school board's role in financial oversight; Gaining practical tools for communicating with others on contentious issues; Strengthening comprehension of mental health challenges facing today's students.)

  • Audiovisual accommodations: Each presenter (or presenter group) is expected to bring a laptop and the presentation with them. KSBA traditionally provides one microphone, screen and projector package for each presenter (or presenter group) at no charge. If additional/special audio arrangements are needed for a session, presenters can contact the hotel directly to make the request and arrange payment. KSBA cannot honor special audiovisual requests made on the day of the presentation.

  • Please select the dates/types of Summer Leadership Institute sessions for which you are willing and able to present. (Check all that apply. Please refer to the session guidelines and expectations - linked at the beginning of this document - for detailed descriptions of session types.)

Keep the following in mind when considering the type of session you may wish to present. 75-minute information sessions, in addition to their lecture portions, should be interspersed with ample time for audience questions and participation. 3-hour sessions, due to their extended length, should also ideally include interactive and skill-building elements. A limited number of 3-hour sessions will be offered during each conference.
