BOARD SUBSIDY RULES FOR MEMBERS
RULES:
Members who get a 50% subsidy to purchase a board or ski for carnival competition are expected to comply with the following conditions:
1. Compete at all Far North Coast Branch carnivals during the season, plus the Country, State and Australian Titles if up to that standard and if work or study commitments do not prevent them from competing.
2. Have a regular weekly training program during the competition season and compete in the weekly club handicap board and surf races.
3. Maintain at least an 80% patrol attendance record.
4. Participate in club fund raising activities.
HOW THE SUBSIDY WORKS:
When the club gives a member a 50% subsidy the club becomes co-owner of the ski/board. At all times, the club retains the right to purchase the half share from the member to take full ownership of the board/ski. If a member repeatedly breaches the above rules the club could exercise this right. If a member wishes to sell a subsidised ski/board they need to get club approval and the club receives half the
proceeds.
If the member sells to another club member, the club subsidy transfers to that member e.g. board valued at $500 – the member would sell to the other member for $250.
If the member sells to someone outside the club then the club gets half the sale proceeds e.g. board sold for $500 – the member gets $250 and the club gets $250
If the member transfers to another club and wishes to take the board/ski with him then the
member is required to buy out the club half share at an agreed market price. Alternatively, the member could sell their half share to the club and leave the board/ski with the club.
If the member retires from competition or leaves the club and drops out of surf lifesaving altogether, then the member either buys out the club half share or sells their half share to the club, another member, or someone outside the club as per above detail.
