1. Voting for the next IIMS Deputy Vice President
In June 2026, Mike Proudlove moves up to become the Institute's President, and David Pestridge becomes Vice President. This means there is a vacancy for the role of Deputy Vice President.
The IIMS Management Board has approved Mick Uberti's candidacy to stand for election as the next IIMS Deputy Vice President.
Here is a short biography from Mick himself:
"After being based in Europe and spending 8 years at sea as a Marine Engineer, I applied for a job as a Marine Surveyor with the Department of Transport (DOT) in Victoria, Australia. I completed the IIMS Diploma of Marine Surveying whilst in this role in 2008 and have been a member ever since.
After spending over 8 years at DOT I founded Maritime Survey Australia (MSA) in 2017. We now have four Directors and a total of 17 full time staff, located all over Australia. Our focus is primarily on commercial vessel surveys. MSA is now the largest Domestic Commercial Vessel Surveying company in Australia.
I am passionate about the industry and bringing new people into the industry as well as giving support to those who are working as surveyors. I am fortunate enough to work with an amazing team of 14 full time surveyors at MSA and we have a culture of supporting others and giving feedback to get the best outcome. I understand that this is not the norm in marine surveying as most of us work solo, and that is why the IIMS is so vitally important.
I welcome the opportunity to be more involved with the IIMS and to grow the awareness of the organisation in the Asia Pacific region.
Thanks for your support."
