• Introduce a Pro Track and Field Title Belt System for Track & Field

A formal petition to gather support for a continuous championship model in Track and Field events, enhancing sport storytelling and fan engagement.
  • Background & Rationale

Track and field, despite its global prominence, currently lacks consistent stakes outside of major championships. The proposed Pro title belt system introduces a continuous, easily trackable storyline for each event: at any time, one athlete holds the title belt and must defend it in every eligible international race. Whenever the current holder is defeated in such a race, the belt transfers to the new winner.

This concept has been rigorously tested using real-world race data from 2008 to the present. The findings highlight missed opportunities for developing rivalries, enhancing marketing, and increasing fan engagement. Formalizing this system would offer a credible, season-long narrative for the sport.

  • Why This Matters

    • Fans could follow a real-time, data-backed “best in the world”
    • Every race with the belt at stake becomes more meaningful
    • The sport benefits from consistent narratives across the season
    • This system already operates in practice — it simply hasn’t been formalized
  • Purpose of This Petition

    • Our goal is to gather 1,000 signatures from the global track & field community
    • This is Phase 1, aiming to validate interest from fans, athletes, and stakeholders
    • If successful, the next phase will involve outreach to professional athletes and governing bodies
