On September 24, 2026, Head Start East is hosting a full day professional development event at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, New York. Turning Stone is a world class destination resort located in the heart of Central New York, just east of Syracuse off the New York State Thruway.
This event is designed specifically to support teachers, classroom staff, and the professionals who work directly with children every day. Whether you are a lead teacher, assistant teacher, home visitor, family worker, or program leader, this day is built for you.
Sessions will cover some of the most pressing issues facing early childhood classrooms right now, from managing challenging behaviors and supporting children with diverse needs to strengthening leadership skills, navigating fiscal challenges, and keeping staff safe in the field.
We know that many Head Start and Early Head Start programs plan their professional development calendars months in advance, which is why we wanted to get this on your radar now.
If your program is mapping out fall training days, this is one worth building into the schedule. And we are not stopping there.
That evening, Head Start East will also offer a special training session designed specifically for governing body members, Policy Council members, and Parent Committee members. We understand that the people who serve in these critical governance roles are often volunteers, working parents, and community members who are not available during the daytime.
By offering this session in the evening, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to participate without having to take time away from work or other responsibilities. Programs are encouraged to begin thinking now about how to support their board and Policy Council members in attending.
More information will be released soon.
