  • About this course:

The Historic Preservation Fundamentals course, developed by the National Park Service, is a well-established introduction to the principles and practice of preserving historic places. The Preservation Society of Charleston is proud to offer this course for the first time as a pilot program, with the goal of building a strong foundation for future offerings. This three-day course is designed for individuals with little to no formal background in historic preservation who are eager to better understand the field. Through guided discussions and interactive learning, participants will explore the significance of historic properties and the tools, terminology, and core concepts used to protect and steward them. As a pilot offering, enrollment is limited to PSC members who are willing to provide thoughtful, detailed feedback on their experience. Participant input will play an important role in shaping how this course is offered in the future.
