    GUEST JUROR- Cathie Kayser

Cathie Kayser is a Houston artist whose work is in private and public collections, including Bush International, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the Print Research Center at Texas Tech Museum. She has had solo exhibitions at Bosque Gallery/Lonestar College, Nicole Longnecker Gallery, the Galveston Arts Center, and Charles Adams Project Space, Lubbock, Texas. She has curated group shows in Houston.

She was the studio manager at Burning Bones Press in Houston and printing assistant to master printer Patrick Masterson for the last 15 years. She works in a variety of printmaking techniques—plate lithography, collagraphs, woodcuts, intaglio, screenprints, and monotypes.

She understands and appreciates the history and technical requirements of printmaking, but also embraces new techniques that push the traditional definition of a print.

Kayser is one of the founders of PrintMatters (now known as PrintHouston), an organization of print artists from Houston and beyond. Their mission has been to promote printmaking, aid in the professional development of the members, and work to educate collectors on the vocabulary and processes involved in creating original prints. In 2010, PrintHouston organized the first city-
wide printmaking event PrintHouston. That same year they organized Rockin’ Rollin’ Prints, a steamroller event manned by and attended by hundreds of artists from across Texas who spend months carving 5 X 3 foot wood blocks. She has consulted with arts leaders interested in starting similar events in other cities. She has taught multiple workshops and organized many
    demonstrations for the public.
