When traveling to Ghana, all visitors must possess a valid passport and a visa (unless exempt).
Passport Requirements:
Validity: Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended date of entry into Ghana.
Blank Pages: Your passport must have at least one or three blank page(s) (depending on the consulate, though two is standard) for visa stamps.
Condition: The passport must not be torn, frayed, or altered.
Identification: A copy of the passport bio-data page is typically required with the visa application.
Visa Requirements:
Visa Necessary: Most foreign nationals, including Americans, Canadians, and British citizens, are required to obtain a visa from a Ghanaian diplomatic mission or consulate before traveling.
Exemptions: Citizens of ECOWAS member states and other countries with specific bilateral agreements (e.g., Kenya, Tanzania, Singapore) do not need a visa.
Visa on Arrival: In some cases, a 30-day visa on arrival can be obtained, but this usually requires prior authorization from the Ghana Immigration Service.
Essential Additional Documents:
Yellow Fever Vaccination: All travelers over 9 months old must have a yellow fever vaccination certificate, which is strictly checked at entry.
