Gathering Details:
Inspired by my beloved friend and fellow death worker Colleen (IG: @deathdouladoes), we will gather in community to process grief and death through the creative process of collage making.
As stated by Colleen,
"Cozy Collage is a space for individuals who want to learn and share their experiences with grief. It is a space for those who wish to explore their death curiosities while being held in a radical death care community. This community fosters open discussion about death and offers a space for candid conversations about grief."
Please note: this is not a space for cathartic grief processing or holding. We will be having open discussions about individual and communal experiences of grief and death. If you are seeking space holding in your grief process, please reach out to me for a 1:1 ceremonial grief support session, or sign up for one of my future communal grief spaces, Good Grief, announced through my Instagram @universal.bridge and in my newsletters.
At the beginning of the gathering, we will present community agreements as a way to create safety and a shared understanding of the ways we are expected to treat one another during the discussion. Building community amongst participants outside the gathering is welcomed and encouraged.
Cozy Collage: Bay Area Edition is rooted within principles of spiritual abolition, healing justice, and non-disposability, among other core values. It is offered on a donation/sliding scale basis as part of the ongoing Liberatory Healing Project series, dreamed up by d (they/them), supported and led by them and committed, wise community volunteers. Through these spaces we will resist, while also receiving deep nourishment to fortify us for the long road ahead.
Participants will receive a general overview/format for the discussion in the confirmation email.
Please note:
This space is run by and for QTBIPOC folks and centers the experiences of Black, Indigenous, Brown, Immigrant, disabled, trans, queer, undocumented, houseless, and incarcerated peoples — groups of peoples who are experiencing ongoing persecution and violence. With this understanding and agreement, all are welcome to join.
