The Audry Streater Davis and Gladys Streater Sweeney Education Scholarship is established to honor the legacy of two remarkable women, sisters, mothers, and grandmothers, who devoted their lives to the field of education. Both Audry Streater Davis and Gladys Streater Sweeney were lifelong educators whose passion for teaching, commitment to student success, and dedication to their communities left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Through their years in the classroom and beyond, they believed deeply in the power of education to transform individuals and uplift communities. Their unwavering commitment to learning, mentorship, and service continues to inspire future generations.
This scholarship is awarded to a returning college student majoring in education who demonstrates academic dedication, a commitment to the teaching profession, and a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others through education.
By supporting aspiring educators, this scholarship seeks to continue the legacy of Audry Streater Davis and Gladys Streater Sweeney—empowering future teachers who will carry forward their spirit of excellence, compassion, and service. This scholarship is sponsored by UOO chapter members Theresa Counts-Davis, Christine Counts-Davis, and Mr. Daniel Davis.
Eligibility Criteria:
· Be enrolled full-time college/university undergraduate during the 2026-2027 academic year (rising sophomore, junior, or senior)
· Current cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
· Submission of an essay, letter of recommendation, and appropriate headshot
· Submit an official transcript
