    Join us in sunny Canberra for the third MABA Annual Event in December 2026. It should be a fabulous opportunity to catch up with old friends, meet like-minded folk, and participate in activities, talks and social events planned to suit all members.

    Professor Yu-Feng (Frank) Hsu from National Taiwan Normal University will deliver the Keynote Presentation

    The three-day event will involve six different activities, starting on Friday 4th with a tour of “Diversity”, the new Australian National Insect Collection (ANIC) building at CSIRO Black Mountain Laboratories. That tour will be followed by a field trip to subalpine woodland in the Brindabella Ranges to learn about sampling techniques for monitoring butterflies, and also light trapping for moths in the evening. Saturday will comprise a keynote address and short talks in the Australian National Botanic Gardens, with an off-site banquet dinner that evening. On Sunday the MABA Event will conclude with a moth identification workshop.

  • Registration for the Third MABA Event 2026 is $65 for members and $30 for student members, and covers all 3 days activities (presentations, workshop and light-trapping); there is no partial registration available.

    Registration will cover your lunch and morning and afternoon tea on Saturday, and morning tea on Sunday, as well as the cost of hiring the ANBG facilities, insurance, and other items. 

    If you plan on attending the banquet as well as the Conference, then the additional cost is $45; for a total cost of $110 for members and $85 for students.
