  • NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: The number of participants will be limited to 10 horse/rider combinations per class. Rider can enter both skills and riding portions.

  • Cost to 4-H Participants $45
  • Participants must provide their own horse for clinic.
  • Ranch classes evaluate a horse's versatility, movement, and willingness to perform tasks, emphasizing a natural, forward-moving working ranch horse appearance.
  • Ranch Rail

    • Description: A group class where exhibitors ride in both directions on the rail, performing walks, trots, lopes, and their extended counterparts.
    • Focus: Judges look for a functional, comfortable, and efficient "day's work" horse with natural, forward-moving gaits.
  • Ranch Pattern

    • Description: A pattern-based class where horse and rider perform a specific, predetermined sequence of maneuvers.
    • Maneuvers: Includes extended gaits, spins, lead changes (simple or flying), walk/trot/lope overs, and backups.
    • Scoring: Judges score on a scale of two for each maneuver, with 70 being average

  • Start time for skills testing is 1:00pm, Ranch Clinic start time is 3:30pm. Upon arrival all participants will turn in a copy of their equine's current negative coggins, exhibitor health history, complete all waivers, and paperwork before unloading. All Participants are expected to be appropriately chaperoned and supervised at all times. If you are traveling without a parent to sign waivers, please notify us in advance.
