Trailheads: Poetry night - resurrection
  • Trailheads: Poetry night - resurrection

    Sunday, May 3, 7:00 - 7:50 pm, in the Café @ St. Stephen's
  • Poetry touches our inmost truths, expresses mysteries of human existence, and opens us to as yet unseen possibilities. Contemporary poets and their art have long been honored at St. Stephen’s and incorporated into worship, especially in the evening, alongside the poetry of both hymnody and liturgy. As such, we invite you to participate in our first poetry reading event, held in the Great Fifty Days of Easter. The theme of the evening is resurrection, so your poetry selection must be one that for you bears out, expresses, touches, or call forth in some way something of this theme. Your selection need not be overtly or even obliquely “religious”, but it must be to you both of personal significance and thematically grounded. Note that the theme is resurrection rather than "the Resurrection".

We will have not more than 45 minutes for readings, so if you wish to participate, please submit this form. If there is ample interest, we will schedule more readings. For the event to be well planned, it is critical that you to time yourself reading aloud to  include below—no estimates, please.

If you have questions, contact the Rev. John Jenkins.
