  • Media Release and Permissions

    The questions below will ask you if your child may appear in any variation of media releases that we may have throughout the season. We will not post your child's image without this permission.

  • Expectations

    Please be sure to read each segment and discuss the expectations with your child.
  • Do you, the child, understand that there is a physical aspect to marching band, and that it requires you to both stand and move around throughout practices, rehearsals, and performances?
  • Do you, the student, understand that behavior and attitude with staff and peers should be respectful and; if offenses/repeated offenses of misconduct occur(listed in the band handbook), the student will receive a consequence from the director.
  • Do you, the parent/guardian, understand that behavior and attitude with staff and peers should be respectful and; should repeated offenses of disrespect occur, the student will be dismissed from the season?
  • Do you, the student, understand that you will have to practice outside of our rehearsal times in order to come prepared to rehearsals.
  • Do you, the student, understand that if you are having any issues with music or drill that you can come in early or stay late after practice to work with Miss Firestone (or another staff member/leader) so that you can improve and feel more confident?
  • Do you, the student, understand that while we are at football games or other performances, that you represent The KHS Marching Band. You must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, and if you choose to make poor decisions, you will receive appropriate consequences listed out in the band handbook.

  • Do you, the student, understand the time commitment this ensemble needs in order to function as laid out by the tentative schedule above?
  • Do you, the parent/guardian, understand that there is a physical aspect to marching band, and that it requires the member to both stand and move around throughout practices, rehearsals, and performances?
  • Do you, the parent/guardian, understand the expectations and time commitment necessary for your child to be a part of our marching unit as per the above tentative schedule?
  • I understand, as the student and parent/guardian, that if there are any conflicts/absences, to let Firestone know at least 2 weeks ahead of time.
  • I understand, as the student and parent/guardian, if there are any emergencies which will cause you to miss a rehearsal, to contact Firestone immediately.
  • Is it understood that joining marching is a season-long commitment, and that if a student quits during the season, they will be required to pay a $50 fee to cover the cost of adjusting the group's music or drill?

  • For our performances, we have a specific uniform that we wear to represent our school. There will be a few items that you will be required to purchase on your own. There are no SPECIFIC brands required, only colors. These items are needed for our first football game (date TBD). Please purchase ahead of time. If you have any questions or concerns on uniform items listed below, please contact Stephanie Firestone (sfirestone@kusd.org) ASAP. 

    The items are: 


     black marching shoes (such as drillmasters - which can be found on the Bandshoppe.com Website)


     black gloves (all woodwinds will need to cut the finger tips off of their gloves to be able to play their instruments) - gloves can be found online or on the Bandshoppe.com website


    Instrumentalists - will need a lyre for football games for their music. This can be found on amazon or any other online shop for cheap.

     
    Kari (our guard instructor) will be in touch with color guard members with their specific shoe that they need to purchase from the bandshoppe.com website and any other needed uniform items.

  • I understand that we, parent and child, are responsible for providing the above listed materials for the marching season. The materials will be procured before the first marching performance.
  • I understand that we, parent and child, are responsible for the KHS uniform and that we must dry clean it before the next season begins.
  • Would you be interested in sponsoring a student that may be experiencing financial hardship throughout the season? (I.E helping pay for shoes, gloves, show shirt)
  • Would you be interested in donating any water or snacks for band camps/competitions? (no nut options)

  • Welcome to the KHS Marching Band!

    We are excited that you will be joining us for the season!

    A link to the Band App (our form of communication throughout the season that includes a calendar, reminders, etc) will be sent to the email address provided. 

    When band camp begins, all students will be provided the marching band handbook that goes into detail with all of the items above.
