2026 YDSA Convention Resolution Submission Form
  • 2026 YDSA Convention Resolution Submission Form

Deadline for Primary Submissions: Sunday, May 24th
  • This form is a template for proposing a resolution to be considered and voted on by the 2026 YDSA Convention. In advance of the convention, the YDSA Resolutions Committee will work with sponsors to clarify resolution language or to combine resolutions of similar content.

Resolutions are the documents that either inform the policy of Young Democratic Socialists of America or direct the organization to take some sort of clear action. This may include campaign initiatives, the formation of national bodies, direction for local activity or structure, or statements of support that may help guide the NCC in their direction of the affairs of the organization. Resolutions cannot compel the organization to violate the constitution or bylaws of YDSA or DSA (that would require an amendment). Resolutions must receive 50% plus 1 of eligible votes at the Convention itself to pass.

Resolutions require one (1) sponsor and nine (9) signatories. The sponsor is the principal author of the resolution, and will control the draft through the process of coming to a vote at the YDSA convention. The signatories may or may not agree on total with the content and substance of the resolution, but do want to see the resolution reach the floor of the Convention.

Once this form has been submitted, the signatories will receive an email where they will be asked to confirm the information given in this form. Their response must be received before the submission deadline in order for the resolution to be eligible for a vote at the Convention.

  • Sponsors and signatories must:

    • Be dues-paying DSA members in good standing
    • Be on the membership list of a nationally recognized YDSA chapter.
    • Their YDSA chapter must have received an official charter from the NCC, and that this charter must not be expired or otherwise nullified
  • Deadline for primary submissions is Sunday, May 24th at 11:59PM PT.

Email ydsacon@dsausa.org with any additional questions regarding the process for resolutions.

  • All Resolutions are required to have one (1) sponsor. The sponsor is the primary author and motivator of the resolution. They will be the main point of contact and have control of the resolution as it moves through the process of revision or combination.

Sponsors must be DSA members in good standing and on the membership list of a nationally-recognized YDSA chapter in order to be eligible.

Please list all names EXACTLY how you would like them to appear in the convention bulletin.

  • The sponsor's YDSA chapter must have received a formal charter from the NCC, and that this charter must have not expired or been otherwise nullified.

  • Format: (000) 000-0000.
    • Co-Signers
    • All Resolutions are required to have 9 co-signers, not including the sponsor. Co-signers must be DSA members in good standing and on the membership list of a nationally-recognized YDSA chapter in order to be eligible.

Please complete all 6 cells in the row for each co-signer below. Your proposal will not be accepted if there are blanks in the table.

    • Rows
    • Resolution
    • Please outline below the rationale of your resolution. When your resolution is published, this section will likely be reformatted into the standard resolution framework to include "WHEREAS" clauses. If you would like to include that in this section, you may, but it is not required.

Be factual rather than speculative and provide or reference statistics whenever possible. The statements should briefly identify the problem or issue you want to address, advise the timelines or urgency of the issue, and the effect of the issue on YDSA.

    • What national body (or bodies) is the proposal relevant to?*
    • Please outline below the action or policy you want YDSA to take up as a result of your resolution. This may either be a policy resolve for YDSA (changing YDSA activity or policy) or a directive (calling on YDSA to take some sort of action).

When your resolution is published, this section will likely be reformatted into the standard resolution framework to include "RESOLVED" clauses. If you would like to include that in this section you may, but it is not required.

The language of you resolution should be very clear on concise as to what you want to be done. If for any reason your resolution seems vague or non-specific, we will be willing to work with you to propose changes that would be the resolution more clear, while still preserving the spirit of your resolution.

    • Resolutions are encouraged to submit a work plan alongside your text. The work plan should include a timeline of events necessary to achieve the resolution goal as well as who would be assigned to take them on (e.x. The youth growth and development committee will do X before the training). Work plans are to be date neutral as much as possible and are not to prescribe specific deadlines but a template for execution.

You may use this template to help you draft your work plan.

    • Should be Empty:
