  • Bird Time on The Coast: June 3, 2026 Registration Form

  • Date: June 3 (Wednesday)

Location: Hayfields Preserve with Georges River Land Trust

    Time: 7 am – 9 am

    Trip Leaders: Sue & Steve

The Hayfields Preserve, a Georges River Land Trust property, is a great place to watch the bobolinks practice their aerial displays and view other grassland birds moving through the fields. The wide open prairie-like setting makes it easy to find birds. The trip includes a nice overlook of the St. George River where everyone can get good scope views of waterbirds swimming below. Park and meet at the preserve parking lot off Route 73 south of Thomaston.

  • The Friends of Maine Coastal Islands (FOMCI) National Wildlife Refuge are proud to sponsor the bird watching series “Bird Time on the Coast.” This series includes local bird experts who are knowledgeable about birds in our area who lead trips to some of their favorite birding hotspots along the coast of Maine. Bird Time on the Coast is open to all birdwatching abilities from beginners to advanced. Bring your binoculars or let us know ahead of time and we will provide them for you. Waterproof footwear and insect repellent are strongly encouraged. The trips are limited in number, so please sign up early.

Help us keep our programs running with a suggested donation of $10 for this bird tour.  If you are attending multiple walks, you can make a one-time donation of your choosing from the dropdown menu, and on subsequent walks, choose "0" since you have already made a donation. Donations go directly to supporting our seabird island interns and educational programs at the Maine Coastal Islands NWR Visitor Center!  We thank our bird leaders for volunteering their time so we can fully support our favorite wildlife refuge!
