The Marvyn G. Rupert Education Scholarship
Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority Inc. was founded on the principles of service, friendship and equality. During the National Convention, members of the sorority vote on Project I.M.P.A.C.T. areas. Project I.M.P.A.C.T. (Individuals Making Progress Across Communities Together) areas help guide service projects and chapter volunteer initiatives. The Houston Bayou City Alumni Chapter of Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority Inc. fulfills the mission of the sorority and serves in Project I.M.P.A.C.T. areas within the Greater Houston region and beyond. Service projects have included providing clothes and toiletries to the Star of Hope shelter, participating in Relay for Life with the American Cancer Society, volunteering at the Houston Food Bank, assisting American Veteran affairs, volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, and participating in the AIDS Walk Houston, just to name a few. Since 2005, the Houston Bayou City Alumni Chapter has awarded high school seniors with scholarships to attend two or four year colleges. The Marvyn G. Rupert Education Scholarship is named in memory of one of our beloved lost pearls. She was a charter member and past National President of the sorority.
