Spartanburg Children's Cabinet
  • Spartanburg Children's Cabinet

    Community Representative Application
  • Thank you for your interest in being a member of the Spartanburg Children’s Cabinet.

The Cabinet is a purposeful group of Spartanburg residents, parents, nonprofit partners, and local leaders who meet every other month to share what they are seeing and hearing across the community to help shape decisions that impact children and families. Together, members take an active role in examining what is working and where there is opportunity to do even more, directly influencing decisions about programs, policies, and resources that impact children and families across Spartanburg County.

No single organization or sector has the full picture. The people closest to the challenges often have the clearest understanding of what families truly need. The Cabinet brings people together across lived experiences and professional roles to design solutions that no one could achieve alone, all in service of children and families across Spartanburg County. Our work focuses on strengthening early childhood, youth engagement, workforce development, and bringing community efforts together so that every child in Spartanburg has the chance to grow, learn, and succeed.

We are looking for community members who call Spartanburg County home, are open to thinking broadly and across sectors, and are passionate about working alongside others to drive meaningful change for every child and family. You do not need a title, degree, or formal leadership role to apply. If you are raising children, supporting family members, or navigating systems in Spartanburg, your voice matters here.

    Ideal candidates will:

    • Reside in Spartanburg County
    • Be prepared to commit to a two-year membership
    • Be invested in the well-being and development of children from their earliest years through young adulthood
    • Be open to listening, learning, and understanding what families in our community need
    • Draw on personal or professional experience connected to children, youth, or families
    • Demonstrate a commitment to working respectfully and collaboratively with people of diverse backgrounds and perspective

What You’ll Do as a Cabinet Member:

    • Share your lived experiences and perspectives
    • Help identify what is working and where families face challenges
    • Contribute to decisions about programs, policies, and priorities
    • Work alongside other community members, partners, and leaders to shape solutions
    • Help ensure that community voices are reflected in real actions and outcomes

By bringing together parents, community members, nonprofit partners, and local leaders, the Spartanburg Children’s Cabinet will help strengthen opportunities for children and families across our community.
