Based in the Denver area, this role is ideal for a detail-oriented media professional who thrives in a fast-paced television and streaming environment. The Media Operations Specialist will play a key role in ensuring all delivered content meets technical and editorial standards, helping maintain the high level of quality our clients and viewers expect. This position is best suited for someone with strong QC experience, sharp attention to detail, and a passion for delivering error-free broadcast and streaming assets.
THIS IS A FREELANCE POSITION - up to 30 hours a week
General Duties/Responsibilities:
- Inspect video, audio, and metadata for streaming readiness using industry-standard QC tools
- Work with an automated QC tool on file-based assets: frame rate, resolution, codecs, closed captions/subtitles, HDR/SDR compliance, color consistency, pre/post-roll, and slate checks
- Verify technical specs against delivery requirements and flag deviations
- Identify and document editorial issues: visual/audio glitches, dropouts, sync, missing/incorrect captions, black frames, or formatting errors
- Create clear QC reports with timestamps, screenshots, and severity classification; recommend corrective actions
- Coordinate with clients to resolve issues and confirm re-delivery
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience in television or streaming QC, post-production, or mastering
- Strong understanding of video formats, codecs, frame rates, color spaces (Rec.709, Rec.2020, HDR), audio formats, and loudness standards (ITUR BS.1770/EBU R128)
- Hands-on experience with QC tools and waveform/vectorscope tools
- Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple assets under tight deadlines
- Good communication skills; able to write concise, actionable reports and liaise across technical and creative teams
- Familiarity with Adobe Premiere, media asset management (MAM), and file transfer protocols are a plus
- Degree or certification in broadcast engineering, film/video production, or equivalent experience preferred
